28.04.12 - DL4 & 5 CUP RESULT - SWANS 'A' 5 MAIDEN NEWTON RESERVES 4
Thirds Win Nine Goal Thriller
Although this match was in effect a "dead rubber" as Broadstone have already won Section 4 of the Division Four & Five League Cup, both Swans and their visitors Maiden Newton & Cattistock Reserves contributed to one of the most entertaining home fixtures seen at either Day's Park or Journey's End this season.
To the surprise of most, this game went ahead after a midday pitch inspection where as the Reserves game with Shaftesbury Reserves that was due to be played on Day's Park was cancelled.
Although the conditions were very testing for both sides, the game was sensibly officiated resulting in a superb end to end match which ebbed and flowed. In the end Swans ran out winners by the odd goal in nine. Wayne Brown netted twice and there was one each for skipper Gavin Drummond, player-manager Ben Briggs and Florinel Bujor.
