MANAGER's MATCH REPORT

Swanage -v - Chickerell
Score: 3-1

I couldn't have asked for a better start. Everything was right - attitude, passing and commitment - which rewarded us with an early opener after some good football when Tommy crossed for Jossie to rise like a salmon (his words not mine!) to score a great headed goal.

We continued to attack, playing some great interlinking football with excellent wing play from Jamie Dunn and Suwie and we were unlucky on occasions not to hit the back of that net. Chickerell started to get a grip on the game and created a few chances which lead to us becoming a little sloppy, giving away some silly free kicks in dangerous places, hence Chickerell eventually being rewarded with an equalizer. However, we continued to press and create chances. Jamie was unlucky not to score when his shot went wide and Jossie too when he he found himself in a great position, only to shoot high over the bar (looking for that salmon I think!). Eventually after some good link up play from John and Suwi the ball was played across the goal and Jamie fired the ball home to make it 2-1, which it stayed until the break.

In the second half we upped our game. Our back four of Dave, Tim, Tony and Adam tightened up and Chickerell never looked like scoring, although they did break through once forcing Nick to pull off a great save, tipping the ball over the bar. We continued to press and were unlucky not to go 3 up when Adam let fly from 35 yds, only to rattle the cross bar. We also had a blatent penalty appeal turned down when their defender used his hand to scoop the ball out of the goal (the only one that didn't see it was the ref!). Eventually the third goal came after some good work paid off and Tommy struck the ball past the keeper into the far left hand corner.

Overall, the team worked hard, played well together and thoroughly deserved the win.
